Four-time Olympic champion Alexander Tikhonov started insulting Ukrainians after Yaroslava Maguchykh made a patriotic appeal after winning the World Championships in athletics. The former biathlete noted that the Russians allegedly never considered themselves the best, accusing our compatriot.

Tikhonov said this in comments to the propaganda news agency RIA Novosti. The 1968-1980 Games winner was outraged that Maguchykh charged with the cry "Glory to Ukraine", calling Ukrainians "nationalists and Nazis" who should preferably be brought to their knees.

"We had 150 times more victories in the USSR and Russia, but we never shouted that we were better than everyone else. I don't want to speak indiscriminately about all the people of Ukraine, but many people there are nationalists. And I, of course, condemn such a thing. If I was at the helm, I would solve such issues in international federations differently. Unfortunately, we can't solve anything today. But I would not pay much attention to such attacks. I think that soon everything will be over, and it is desirable that all these Nazis kneel down," said Tikhonov.

Earlier, journalists from the Russian portal Sport24 demanded at least a fine for Maguchykh's cry of "Glory to Ukraine!" at the 2023 World Cup. And Olympic champion Svetlana Zhurova said that the track and field athlete was allegedly forced to "say nasty things" about Russian aggression.

As reported OBOZREVATEL, two-time Olympic champion Dmitry Vasiliev expressed outrage at Yaroslava Maguchikh, who celebrated with the patriotic cry "Glory to Ukraine!". And another OI winner from the Russian Federation Mikhail Mamiashvili called the act of our athlete immoral.
