Heerenveen's Moldovan striker Ion Nicolaescu suffered an unusual injury in the extra time of the Dutch Cup match against Quick Boys. The footballer tried to blow his nose, which caused severe pressure, causing his eye to almost fall out of its socket.

The player was immediately replaced, and the incident was broadcast on TV. The video of the incident went viral online, garnering hundreds of views.

In this game, Ion managed to score a goal, but it did not help his team. At the end of the first extra time, Quick Boys scored the decisive goal and advanced to the quarterfinals.

Ion Nicolaescu was born on September 7, 1998 in Chisinau. He began his professional career at Moldovan club Zimbru, where he quickly proved himself as a productive striker. In 2018, he moved to Belarus, signing a contract with Shakhtar Soligorsk, but failed to gain a foothold in the team and played on loan for Vitebsk.

Later he played for Slovakian DAK 1904, Israeli Beitar and other clubs. In 2023, he joined Heerenveen for 1.3 million euros. He made his debut for the Moldovan national team at the age of 20, and in 2023 became the best scorer in its history, scoring 12 goals.

His achievements include victories in the Belarusian Cup and the Israeli Cup.
