Burlakova speaks about the World Cup

Russian cyclist Yana Burlakova was shocked that after her victory at the World Cup, the organizers refused to play the Russian national anthem. Instead, one of Ludwig van Beethoven's compositions was played in Ballerup, Denmark, which came as a complete surprise to the athlete.

Burlakova said this in an interview with Sporthot.ru. According to the representative of the aggressor country, she also faced an angry reaction from some fans to her appearance on the track, hearing offensive shouts in her direction.

"The foreign athletes were very well treated, everyone congratulated them, and there was no negative feedback. There was one incident when something unintelligible and unpleasant was shouted from the stands during the award ceremony. But there are different people. You need to treat everything with understanding. At first, I didn't understand what song was playing during the award ceremony instead of the proper anthem. It turned out to be Beethoven. But all I had to do was sing it to myself," Burlakova said.

It should be noted that the International Cycling Union returned Russians to its tournaments last summer without the national flag and anthem.
