"I am proud of my players": Lucescu spoke out about Dynamo's drop-off from European cups

Head coach of Dynamo Kyiv Mircea Lucescu has positively assessed the team's performance in the current European Cup season, despite the defeat at the qualification stage of the Conference League. The Romanian specialist noted that his players looked decent against Istanbul Besiktas, to whom they had lost in the return match of the qualification playoffs the day before.

Lucescu said this at the post-match press conference, the video of which was published on the Haber Global YouTube channel. According to the coach, the game in Istanbul was not easy for his team, but they had a chance to go further.

"It was a balanced match in the first half and 10 minutes of the second until Besiktas scored a goal. After that they started provoking and creating free zones for counterattacks. They are more experienced and we have a lot of players from the academy. We don't have the same conditions as other teams. We play without fans, we try to keep on living. I am proud of my players, because they are trying to keep Ukrainian soccer at a decent level in these conditions," Lucescu said.

It should be noted that the last time Dynamo dropped out of the European Cup was in the 2005/06 season when they were eliminated in the second round of Champions League qualification by Swiss side Tune.
