At least 13 people were killed when a roof collapsed at the Bahiense del Norte sports club as a result of a storm in the city of Bahia Blanca, Buenos Aires province. Three other victims were immediately taken to the hospital with various injuries.
According to sur24.com.ar, half an hour after the start of the figure skating competition, the wind brought the structure down on the participants and spectators.

Authorities confirmed that they have begun clearing the rubble and freeing trapped people at the facility, asking the public to stay away from it and stay at home.
Many people have been reported injured as a result of the roof collapse, some of them in serious condition.

It is reported that "all emergency services are working in an enhanced mode, and the victims will first be admitted to the municipal hospital". Evacuation centers have been set up at Estrella, Club Olimpo and Dow Center.
Around 19:00 on Saturday, December 16, heavy rain and winds gusting up to 152 kilometers per hour started in the city of Bahia Blanca, causing widespread destruction throughout the city. Most homes were left without electricity.
Later, a video of the hurricane from an airplane window was posted online.
