Former world boxing champion and Olympic champion Alexander Povetkin is personally delivering humanitarian aid to residents of Kursk Oblast, Vologda Oblast's interim governor Georgy Filimonov said during a working meeting with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin.
"On my behalf, this area of work in the Vologda Oblast is being handled by the specialized deputy governor of the Vologda Oblast, legendary boxer, Olympic champion Alexander Povetkin, who is originally from Kursk. This is his native land, and he personally delivers these humanitarian supplies, accompanying the convoys," Putin's press service said in a statement.

As reported, he was noted for his meaningless statement against his fellow countrymen from Kursk. The ex-boxer promised his compatriots with pathos to "quickly come to their homeland," which caused an angry reaction among Russians online.
