Zherebko apologises for playing in Russia
Famous Swedish basketball player Yunas Zherebko has admitted that it was a mistake to join CSKA Moscow after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The athlete apologised to his compatriots for playing in the aggressor country, but did not mention Ukrainians.
Zherebko, who complained that he was unemployed after leaving Russia, said this in an interview with SVT Sport. The Swedish forward, who played in the NBA for 10 seasons, explained his shameful act by saying that he just wanted to play basketball because he had missed a lot of time for various reasons.

"I want to apologise. Everything went wrong, but I can't blame anyone but myself. I made a completely wrong choice, thinking only about basketball, and that choice turned out to be wrong. From the very beginning, when I was planning, I had my doubts. But I didn't play for a year and a half. I just wanted to play basketball. Now I realise how wrong it was. I would never do it again if I could go back in time. I regret it," Zherebko said.
