This was stated in a commentary to the RIA Novosti propaganda news agency by the Russian Football Union (RFU). The organization referred to the International Football Federation (FIFA).

"The Russian national team's match against Qatar will not go to the credit of the FIFA rankings," the RFU said. The meeting itself will be held at the Al-Janoub stadium in Al-Wakrah, which hosted the 2022 World Cup matches.

The Russians will play two more matches with the Olympic team of Egypt in September, which was called a "benchmark disgrace". In addition, fans mocked the decision of Valery Karpin, who called 49 players to the training camp of the national team.
