Dynamo failed to get into the top 2 of the UPL

For the first time in the last nine years, Dynamo Kyiv, the multiple champion of Ukraine, failed to win a place in the top two teams of the national championship. This means that the capital's club will not even be able to qualify for the Champions League.

This became known after the opening matches of the 27th round of the Premier League. In the first match of the game day, SC Dnipro-1 managed to pull out a strong-willed victory over Kolos from Kovalivka in the last minute of stoppage time - 2-1. With a similar scoreline, league leader Shakhtar Donetsk was stronger than Veres Rivne, scoring the decisive goal in the 83rd minute of the game.

After that, Dynamo's gap with Dnipro, who are still in second place, increased to 14 points. Kyiv have four matches left to play, in which they can score a maximum of 12 points.

This means that the White and Blues can now only count on a bronze medal in the championship. At the same time, Mircea Lucescu's men will lose eight points to third-placed Zorya Luhansk.

Thus, for the first time since the 2013/2014 season, Dynamo failed to break into the top 2 of the UPL. In that draw under Oleh Blokhin's leadership, Kyiv took fourth place, ahead of Shakhtar, Dnipro and Metalist.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, the legendary Dynamo Kyiv footballer Vladyslav Vashchuk became a soldier of the National Guard of Ukraine, shocking many of his family members.
