Russian fans speak out about the country's disappointing prospects

The general director of CSKA Moscow soccer club Roman Babayev believes that Russian teams will not return to European Cups in the foreseeable future. In the opinion of the CSKA functionary, the country needs to choose other directions of development.

"We are trying to interact with Asia, Africa. I think a return to the European Cups is impossible in the near future, and it's not a year or two. The likelihood of national teams and clubs participating in Asian tournaments is high. We are studying the logistics and so on," Babayev said on Match TV.

Russian fans could not contain their emotions, commenting on the statements of the general manager of the capital team.

"Roma, what Asia? The UEFA Champions League is tens of millions of euros in total even for participation in the group stage. And what does CSKA need an Asian league for? Will the arena be packed for a game against champion Laos and third team Indonesia?" - the users write.

Others joke that at this rate, Russia's only prospects are matches against Belarus and Eritrea.
