The moment happened in Lodz

The Israel U-21 and Poland U-21 football teams held a minute's silence after the start of their game in the 2024 UEFA European Championship qualifiers. They wanted to honor the victims of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict before the game as usual, but the European Football Union (UEFA) did not allow this, refusing to coordinate the action.

As a result, the teams found a way to get around the ban. When the main referee of the match, Jovan Kaczewski, blew the starting whistle at the Miejski Stadium in Łodz, the players of both countries froze motionless instead of starting to play.

After passing the first ball, the Israelis stopped together with the Poles and spent about a minute standing still, some with their heads bowed.

This moment went viral on the Internet, garnering about 1 million views. The match itself ended with a 2-1 victory for the Poles. They are in first place (12 points) after 4 matches. Israel is last with 0 points. However, it has 2 games in hand.
