The fight began with Canelo's dictation: the favorite worked accurately with his left side to the body, successfully adding right straight and right hooks. The Brit tried to find the right distance, but the Mexican champion's tight defense prevented him from doing so.

From the middle of the fight, the advantage of Canelo became more and more evident. In the 5th round, he had a double and Ryder was knocked down.

The British fighter was saved by the bell, he had time to recover, but there was no longer any advantage. In the sixth three-minute right hand from Canelo almost got his opponent down again, but he stayed on the ropes.

Despite the Mexican's total superiority, Ryder was able to make it to the championship rounds, although he was on the verge of falling in the final moments of the fight.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, in September 2022, Canelo defeated Gennady Golovkin of Kazakhstan during the first defense. In May 2022, Alverez moved up to featherweight, where he lost to WBA champion Dmitry Bivol.
