"A total failure": Collymore advises Chelsea to loan Mudryk
Former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker Stan Collymore believes that Chelsea should loan out Ukrainian striker Mykhailo Mudryk. According to the expert, this is how the leader of the Ukrainian national team will be able to realize his potential.
Collymore says that this is a young player who played only 44 matches for Shakhtar Donetsk before Chelsea signed him for almost £90 million.
"Some players can live up to the hype, others can't. So far Mudryk has been a complete failure. He can still fulfill his potential - he's only 22 years old - but he needs to play a few more games before Chelsea can expect him to be their main left winger. He's just too inexperienced," Collymore writes in his column for CaughtOffside.
Collymore is convinced that Mykhailo needs to go down a level and go play for a club where the expectations of winning week in and week out are as high as at Chelsea.
"I am not sure whether they will accept him or not, but I think Borussia Dortmund could be the perfect club for Mudryk. It would be the right way for the Ukrainian to reach his full potential," the expert notes.
As OBOZREVATEL reported, Mudryk has played 22 matches for Chelsea in all competitions since January last year. The only effective actions of the footballer from Ukraine were two assists. The total time played was 876 minutes.
On September 17, despite the sensational assurances of the London press that Mudryk would be in the starting lineup for Bournemouth in the match of the 5th round of the EPL, our compatriot was released only as a substitute in the second half. The match ended with a score of 0:0, with Sofascore and WhoScored rating Mykhailo's performance at 7.0 and 6.5, respectively.
