Gamzat Osmanov, the 2013 Azerbaijani freestyle wrestling champion, who worked as the deputy mayor of Buynaksk, Dagestan after his retirement, was seriously injured. A stun grenade exploded in the 30-year-old official's hands.

According to the Telegram channels Baza, Shot and Mash, Osmanov's left hand was blown off.

Mash's sources claim that Osmanov was visiting a friend and did not know it was a real grenade. He was allegedly told it was a fake. And when the 30-year-old official began to move the munition in his hands, an explosion occurred. There were no official reports of this incident.

Osmanov played for Russia until March 2013. He studied at the Hamid Hamidov Sports School in Makhachkala. In July 2009, he became the European cadet champion in the Serbian city of Zrenjanin. In November 2013, he won the Golden Grand Prix in Baku, defeating Russian Soslan Ktsoyev in the final of the 84 kg weight category.

After the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he supported the aggression in every way possible.
