The Syrian national football team has agreed to play against the Russian team. According to Emad Amiri, Communications Director of the Syrian Football Federation, active negotiations are underway with the Russian Football Union (RFU) regarding a friendly match in November.

"We are at the final stage and have already agreed on the date of the match - November 19. We are negotiating the venue, Syria may play in Russia. We are close to making this match take place in November, but no official documents have been signed yet," Amiri said in an interview with sport24. In particular, the option of holding the match in Moscow is being discussed.

Initially, the Russian national team was supposed to play Pakistan, but the parties failed to reach an agreement, despite the fact that the Pakistani national team is free from matches on these dates after being eliminated from the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Tanzania also did not want to contact Russia.

So far, the Russian Federation has not yet announced Russia's opponents for matches during the upcoming international break. The national team's training camp will begin on October 7.
