A 7-year-old Ukrainian gymnast whose leg was blown off by a Russian missile wins her first tournament. Video.

Young Ukrainian athlete Oleksandra Pascal won first place in her first rhythmic gymnastics competition. The 7-year-old native of Chornomorsk lost her leg last year.

"I watched and could not believe how quickly she rehabilitated! And most importantly, what a powerful motivation a 7-year-old girl must have to return to rhythmic gymnastics with a prosthetic leg so quickly!" - wrote Daria Gerasymchuk, Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights and Child Rehabilitation, on her Facebook page.

As a result, four people were injured, but Sasha sustained the most serious injuries. As her grandfather later told her, the strike occurred at 9am, when the whole family was in the house.

As a result of the terrorist attack, a 5-year-old girl sustained an open fracture of her arm, head injury, 4 broken ribs, and multiple shrapnel wounds. A floor slab fell on her leg, shattering all the bones. Oleksandra's mother, Maria Paskal, was also injured.

The doctors kept the young athlete in a medically induced coma for 15 days, but were unable to save her limb.

After many months of treatment in Ukraine, Oleksandra went for rehabilitation in Austria last year.

She underwent surgery on her arm, inserting special spokes that are still there. In Austria, she also received a prosthesis, which she used for 4 months to learn to walk.

After arriving in Ukraine, Sasha immediately started rhythmic gymnastics classes.
