The owner of the dog that killed a swan in a pond in Ivano-Frankivsk told his version of the incident, noting that he blames himself for what happened. The man, whose name is Viktor Lishankov, admitted that he had failed to control the dog and also confirmed that he would serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Lishankov wrote about this on Instagram. First of all, this post revealed that the man became an orphan at an early age. After receiving his education in Ukraine, he went to work abroad in 2019.

When the full-scale war broke out in 2022, Viktor was living and working in Krakow. Even though he had a good job position and salary there, he decided to return home and was already in Ukraine on March 6.

"After staying at home for a week (getting away from everything), I went to join the Armed Forces. First, in the Rozdilnianskyi military enlistment office, then at the place of residence. In both places, I received the same refusal with the words: "We have no room. And we don't mobilize orphans according to the law at all (this is about evasion)," Lishankov said.

After that, he decided to move to Ivano-Frankivsk, where he found a job and got a dog. The man also constantly took dogs for rehoming: he took them off the street, treated them, looked after them, and then gave them to other owners.

This is what happened to the dog that later killed the swan – Dager came to Viktor on June 1. The dog was very difficult to train and could not get used to the leash and muzzle. Nevertheless, within a month the animal became calmer and did not conflict with anyone. According to the man, he always kept Dager on a leash and let him go only when they met the dog's friends so he could play.

"It was exactly the same this time. We met a Labrador we already knew in the park, they were running together and he suddenly took a sharp dash towards the lake to drink water and fell into the lake. Having reached the island, he noticed a swan and attacked it. You know the result. I am incredibly sorry that it happened. I blame only myself. I almost failed, I apologize!" the Ukrainian wrote.

He added that after this tragic incident, he did not run away from the crime scene or hide. Together with his dogs, the man waited for the police, the investigative team, and the TCR. From the comments, it became known that Dager and Lishankov's second dog were adopted by his friends, and he will serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in addition, the man will pay the fine imposed on him.
