How do Ukrainians see victory in the war with Russia and in what timeframe: results of a poll
For more than a year and a half, Ukrainians have been fighting the Russian occupiers, defending their sovereignty and independence. Despite the enormous number of difficulties and hardships that the war has brought, the vast majority of our country's citizens are not ready to make any concessions to the aggressor.
Ukrainians believe that the state will defeat the aggressor and return all the temporarily occupied territories. This is evidenced by the Ukrainian Society sociological monitoring conducted by Serhiy Dembitsky, Deputy Director of the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
The results of the survey showed that the number of respondents who are focused on a prolonged war with the aggressor has been increasing recently. The author of the study notes that this readiness of Ukrainian citizens is quite comparable to the dominant ideas about the desired features of victory.
In December 2022, most Ukrainians were confident that the war would last six months to a year. However, the mood of citizens has now changed. In June 2023, Ukrainians are confident that the war with Russia will last for more than a year. At the same time, about 10% believe that the war could end in a few months.
At the same time, more than 80% of respondents believe that Ukraine's victory will be the return of all the territories of the state within the 1991 borders. It is noteworthy that the other options, which involve various territorial compromises and concessions to the enemy, do not even get 5%.
Earlier, it was reported that the vast majority of Ukrainians are not ready to make concessions to the aggressor country Russia to end the war. Only 4.7% of citizens are ready to make territorial "compromises".
