The war claimed the life of Maksym Shvartsman

Maksym Shvartsman, who had been defending Ukraine since the first days of the full-scale invasion of Russian troops, was killed by an enemy shell in Donetsk region. He worked as a photojournalist and videographer for Ukrainian media until 24 February 2022.

The tragic news was announced on Facebook by his wife Marina. She bitterly described when and where her Hero could be laid to rest and tried to describe the pain in her heart.

"War has a special kind of torture for those who wait... I have waited for my Defender. Now he will protect us from the sky," the woman wrote in her epitaph.

Eternal honour and memory to all those who gave their lives for Ukraine. Generations of Ukrainians will cherish their feat and it will live forever.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, back in May, a well-known Ukrainian artist Volodymyr Chornyi, who was a volunteer, was killed in action against the Russian occupiers. Before the war, he was working on the 2022 feature film Pamphire with director Dmytro Sukholytkyi-Sobchuk.

Also in the spring of this year, a 40-year-old musician and conductor, Kostiantyn Starovitsky, died. From the first day of the full-scale Russian invasion, he volunteered to join the Kyiv terrorist defence, with his mother, wife and daughter waiting for him at home.
