Beware, AI! Ukrainians have fallen for another fake with children: photos of girls in blue and yellow uniforms are being shared online

Ukrainians have fallen for another fake with children

A fake about a "Ukrainian woman who conquered the stage with her unusual singing" is being actively spread on Facebook. In fact, the photo was created by artificial intelligence, which is visible to the naked eye, and if you look closely, you can see the flaws in the image itself.

First of all, the image of the child attracts the attention of the Internet user, and then the yellow and blue clothes in the color of the Ukrainian flag and the clickbait headline. However, different information about the child's age causes dissonance. As Ukrainians noted in the comments to the false news, the girl is sometimes 5 years old, sometimes 3, and "tomorrow they will write a 1-year-old." The analytical resource "The Other Side of the News" analyzed the situation in more detail.

"Fake news again, and again with children. Children evoke strong emotions: compassion, indignation, fear. Some people tend to trust information related to children because they believe that they cannot be part of manipulations. This helps fakes spread faster and attract more attention," the problem with this "news" was explained.

In total, three similar photos of little girls with microphones in their hands are circulating on the social network. In total, they have garnered over 1000 shares, meaning that this number of users believed in the information and spread it to their audience and friends.

"In total... tens of thousands of people liked it. An entire Facebook network of spoof accounts was involved in this information campaign: "Information Bomb" (about a million readers); "Info Shock" (44 thousand); "Patriots of Ukraine" (304 thousand); "Real News" (30 thousand) and others. Each of them published photos of the little singers on their pages. And then they commented on each other and supported each other with likes," noted "The Other Side of the News."

The naked eye can see that the photos of children are not real: the contours of objects are fuzzy, and all textures present in the frame are smoothed out. In some images, you can see hand and eye defects.

"Each of these publications contains a link to the "myzukrainy.net" dump site in the comments. This is one of the main goals – to attract as many visitors as possible. The content of the site is low-quality texts with emotional and clickbait headlines. In addition, they use the familiar scheme of replacing Cyrillic letters with Latin letters and even numbers to deceive search engine algorithms (in case someone thinks to check the information). A significant part of the publications is borrowed from various anonymous Telegram channels," the source explained.

Interestingly, instead of non-existent children, the site contains a link to a performance by Yaryna Mytsyk, who is definitely at least 5 years old.
