The activities of the Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine should be banned. The draft law on this issue has great public importance, so it must be adopted without violations so that it cannot be canceled through the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.

This was stated by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk at a briefing on Wednesday, May 22. He also commented on the blocking of the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada by the European Solidarity faction.

"The social significance of this draft law is great. The Parliament has no right to fire a blank shot when adopting this draft law, nor to violate the regulations," Stefanchuk emphasized.

According to him, Eurosolidarity MPs demanded that the bill be put to a vote in the session hall in violation of the Verkhovna Rada's Rules of Procedure.

"And as a lawyer, I can tell you that this is a direct basis for the subsequent repeal of this law in the Constitutional Court of Ukraine," Stefanchuk emphasized.

He explained that this is why it was decided to collect signatures under the draft law to make sure that there are enough votes for its adoption.

"As soon as all the signatures are collected, the draft law will be immediately submitted to the parliament," the Speaker assured.

At the same time, Stefanchuk emphasized that he voted for the bill in the first reading and will vote for it in the second.

"But I want it to be passed with perfect compliance with the Rules of Procedure and procedures to give no chance to anyone to destroy this bill in the Constitutional Court of Ukraine," the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada emphasized.

Stefanchuk also commented on the opposition's claims that the President's Office had allegedly instructed members of the Servant of the People faction not to sign the draft law. He called such statements one of the types of political struggle by opponents and their "flabby fantasies."

"All other manipulations, all other statements that someone called someone back are some kind of flabby fantasies of certain political actors who are for some reason in the parliament," the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada said.

Stefanchuk reminded that before the vote in the first reading, signatures were also collected to see if there were votes to support the bill.

"I remember all the manipulations that allegedly delayed the publication of the draft law on the website somewhere in the Verkhovna Rada Office. You see, these are political lollipops that are sometimes given as information to give something to talk about," Stefanchuk said.

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

The Orthodox Church of Ukraine appealed to the Parliament to ban the UOC-MP at the legislative level. It is noted that the OCU supports the need to annul those organizations whose religious center is located in the aggressor state.

Bigus.info investigators reported that the UOC-MP is the basis for a Kremlin agent network in Ukraine that aims to destabilize the domestic political situation. In particular, according to the journalists, "agents in robes" spread propaganda narratives and materials discrediting the Ukrainian leadership through the "Union of Orthodox Journalists"," First Cossack", and "Myriany".

Most Ukrainians support the ban on the UOC-MP. 63% supported a complete ban of this church in Ukraine, and 20% supported the establishment of state control and supervision over its activities.
