Exactly one year ago, Russian barbarians destroyed the Museum of UPA General Roman Shukhevych in Lviv. Unfortunately, the restoration of the historical monument has not begun since then.

This was reported by the leader of the "European Solidarity" party, Petro Poroshenko.

"For the Moscow regime, the names of Roman Shukhevych or Stepan Bandera are like incense for devils. And for Ukraine, the memory of the leaders of the national liberation movement is no less a weapon than drones or shells. As you know, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Poroshenko Foundation has been systematically helping the Defense Forces by providing them with FPV drones, Mavics, electronic warfare equipment, and other necessary equipment. The amount of assistance to brigades and battalions has already exceeded UAH 6.5 billion," Poroshenko wrote.

Immediately after the barbaric attack on the Shukhevych Museum, the Poroshenko Foundation offered financial assistance for the speedy restoration of the destroyed monument, and a letter of guarantee was handed over to the management of the institution. The idea of restoring the house was supported at a public meeting on January 17, 2024, in Lviv, at the Historical Museum, in particular by Roman Shukhevych's daughter Mariia Tryliovska, the head of the OUN-UPA Brotherhood Bohdan Borovych, dissident and public figure Myroslav Marynovych, members of the Ukrainian Parliament, and members of the Lviv Regional and City Councils.

"However, contrary to the wishes of the Lviv community, the city authorities ignored the proposal of the Poroshenko Foundation to rebuild the Shukhevych Museum as soon as possible. Instead, in the face of the deteriorating economic situation and rising taxes, Lviv officials decided to organize a fundraiser from the people. This is a deliberate delay in the process of restoring the museum complex," Poroshenko said.

The first and most important thing to be done is to restore this house to the way it was before it was destroyed by the Russian Shaheds. We don't have a grave of Roman Shukhevych, so for the family and for all Ukrainians, this place is a place of honor for the fallen general. The Museum building is the former underground headquarters of the OUN, where Shukhevych hid during the last years of his life and where he was killed by the Soviet KGB in 1950. March 5, 2025, will mark the 75th anniversary of the heroic death of the legendary UPA commander. It would be very symbolic, fair, and right to honor Shukhevych's memory not on the ruins, but in a rebuilt museum.

The Poroshenko Foundation urges: finally, stop the chatter and delay in the reconstruction process, hide behind paperwork, and start work on the restoration of the Shukhevych Museum.
