Headaches can be caused by various reasons

Headaches are the most common complaint of health in the modern world. It often occurs under the influence of external causes or is a symptom of a disease. In any case, everyone who has experienced a headache at least once wants to get rid of it as soon as possible. Some people simply use medication, while others have to seek medical help. Calmness, water balance and a proper diet are the first prescriptions from neurologists, specialists who treat headaches.

Like any disease, a headache has a cause, and eliminating it will solve the problem. Huffpost turned to neurologists and published a selection of methods used by doctors themselves to treat headaches.

A headache can occur suddenly and go away on its own or last for a long time, accompanied by other symptoms, such as light sensitivity, nausea, or visual impairment. In case of persistent or increasing pain, you should definitely consult a doctor, but until then, use the ways to improve your well-being.

Quiet environment. Try to retire to a quiet and cosy place. For example, in the case of migraines, resting in a quiet, dark room without irritating light can help.

Change of activity. The frantic pace of modern life puts us under constant stress, which can worsen our overall health. If you have a headache, find a way to change your activity so that your brain can switch to something else. Even walking or reading for a short time can help.

Avoid pain triggers. Headaches are caused by a variety of factors, such as alcohol consumption or chronic sleep deprivation. Be attentive to your body's signals and avoid negative impacts on your health.

Drink water. Experts note that there is a link between headaches and insufficient fluid in the body. Therefore, drinking plain water throughout the day can be your salvation.

Try coffee. Sometimes it's the aromatic drink that can help you feel better. This is because caffeine constricts blood vessels and restricts blood flow around the brain, which can relieve headaches. The main rule in this case is moderation, as regular coffee consumption can lead to withdrawal headaches.

Eat small meals. Sometimes organising your meals can help with headaches. Low sugar levels can aggravate migraine headaches, so neurologists advise shortening the time intervals between meals and eating small meals 5-6 times a day.

Take your medication. You shouldn't tolerate headaches because they significantly reduce your quality of life. If necessary, use painkillers, but do not take them more than 10 times a month.

Headaches are an unpleasant symptom, but there are effective ways to get rid of them. For the best results, seek medical advice and follow your doctor's recommendations.

Earlier, OBOZREVATEL talked about the types of headaches. Doctors noted that to eliminate the pain, it is necessary to establish its cause.
