Zelenskyy and Orban discussed Hungary's participation in the preparation of the second Peace Summit: what they agreed on

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Hungary for participating in the first Peace Summit and expressed hope that Budapest would join the preparation of the second summit. He noted that it could be organized this year.

The Head of State made this statement during a briefing following the negotiations in Kyiv with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. The President also noted Hungary's support for the final communiqué of the summit.

"Hungary took part in the first Peace Summit and supported the summit communiqué, and this shows Hungary's readiness to be effective in order to return long-term security to our country and the entire region – Europe," Zelenskyy said.

He said that during the talks with Orban, they discussed in detail how Hungary could demonstrate its leadership in the preparation of the second summit.

"We discussed in detail how Hungary can demonstrate its leadership in the preparation of the second Peace Summit. We see an opportunity to organize the second Peace Summit this year and would like to do so very much, we can do all the preparatory work in the coming months. We will be grateful to Hungary for its support and activity in this regard," Zelenskyy emphasized.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed cooperation at the EU level and expectations from the Hungarian presidency.

Earlier it was reported that on Tuesday, July 2, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban visited Ukraine. He arrived in Kyiv to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This is the first visit to Ukraine by a Hungarian politician since the beginning of the full-scale war.
