"We are becoming even stronger every day": Zelenskyy discusses weapons for the Armed Forces and the provision of fighter jets at a meeting with Swedish Defence Minister. Video.

Sweden to hand over F-16 to Ukraine

On May 25, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with Swedish Defence Minister Pål Jonson. The politicians discussed the work of the aviation coalition aimed at supplying Ukraine with American F-16 fighters.

This was reported by the President himself on his Telegram channel. The Swedish official also assured that his government is considering the prospect of transferring weapons to the Ukrainian army (to watch the video, scroll to the end of the news).

"Important, top-priority issues: the air coalition, the situation on the frontline, the necessary weapons, the peace formula, Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration, and Sweden's support. We are becoming even stronger every day," Zelenskyy briefly summarised the results of the talks.

Later, the president said that during his meeting with Jonson, he discussed the possibility of Sweden's participation in the aviation coalition and the opening of a separate training programme for Ukrainian pilots on modern Western-made aircraft.

"I am grateful for Sweden's decision to join the international tank coalition in support of Ukraine and to transfer 10 Leopard-2 tanks and for its leadership in the formation of the CV-90 IFV coalition," Zelenskyy said.

He also thanked the entire Swedish society for supporting our country throughout the full-scale war.

"For the support both on the battlefield and for the very important financial and humanitarian assistance," the Head of State said.

As a reminder, the issue of the transfer of fourth-generation fighter jets for air priority for the Ukrainian Armed Forces will be raised during the Ramstein 12 summit. The meeting of NATO defence ministers takes place on May 25.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, the first stage of F-16 training for Ukrainian pilots will take place in the UK, with other countries in line. Thus, about 20 Ukrainian pilots will undergo initial training.
