Scholz is still afraid of Putin

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has spoken out against supplying Ukraine with long-range Taurus missiles because of fears that this decision could draw Germany into a war.

"I'm surprised that some people don't think about whether what we're going to do could lead to a kind of participation in a war," Scholz said.

He also added that the debate over the Taurus missiles diverts attention from what Ukraine "really" needs.

"What Ukraine lacks is ammunition for all possible distances, not necessarily Taurus," the chancellor said.

"Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale attack, the Germans have been giving Ukraine helmets and medical kits. Then there were tanks and air defense systems. And today we are talking about long-range missiles. And although Scholz continues to take a non-constructive stance, I think he will have no choice when the long-range missile supply coalition that Macron has been talking about is launched. Germany will not be pleased to stay on the sidelines of the mainstream, which is now rising among Western partners," former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Volodymyr Ohryzko said in an exclusive commentary for OBOZ.UA.
