Trump instructed his aides to organize a phone call with Russian dictator Putin

US President-elect Donald Trump has instructed his aides to organize a phone call with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in the first days after the Republican's inauguration. The purpose of the call is to discuss a personal meeting between the politicians in the near future to try to find a way to end the war in Ukraine.

This was reported by CNN. According to the publication, during the election campaign, Trump promised to end the conflict immediately after taking the oath of office.

However, on the eve of his inauguration, there are no signs that the almost three-year war is nearing an end, which is likely to lead to a failure to fulfill this promise.

Trump and his team are eager to move quickly to implement the settlement plan, which they envision could be implemented in the first months of his presidency. Direct dialog with Putin will play a key role in this plan. Trump's national security team began preparing a phone call with the Russian dictator several weeks ago. However, the exact date of the call remains uncertain.

According to CNN, after Trump takes office, the United States and Russia will be able to start organizing a personal meeting in earnest. Trump himself said that preparations for the talks are already underway, while the Kremlin said that official work on organizing the meeting will begin after his inauguration.

Unlike the current US President Joe Biden, who has not spoken to Putin for almost three years, fearing that any conversation would be useful for resolving the conflict, the Republican acts differently.

"Trump sees things differently. His view, as described by someone familiar with his thinking, is that direct communication with Putin is exactly what is needed to find a solution to end the war," the article says.

It remains to be seen whether Trump will continue the Biden administration's policy of supplying arms and intelligence to Ukraine. In addition to his stated position against Ukraine's accession to NATO, he did not specify what security guarantees he was willing to offer to meet President Zelenskyy's demands.

Also, the US president-elect did not explain who would finance Ukraine's reconstruction, although his previous statements indicate that the United States is unlikely to take on this responsibility.

As a reminder, according to Mike Waltz, Trump is determined to bring Russia's war against Ukraine to an end. According to him, Volodymyr Zelensky also says he is ready to cooperate with Trump in this regard.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, Trump plans to meet with the Russian dictator "as soon as possible" after his inauguration on January 20. The Kremlin leader, according to the Republican, also wants this meeting because his war against Ukraine is "not going well for him."
