Ending the Russian-Ukrainian war is one of the priorities of the administration of new US President Donald Trump. Russian aggression has led to significant destruction and a large number of deaths, and forced millions of Ukrainians to flee the war.

Now, the key task facing the White House is to find a solution that would ensure that the war does not flare up again in a few years. This was stated by the newly appointed US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in an interview with CBS.

According to him, Trump's promise to end Russia's war against Ukraine will form the basis of further US policy, this task will be a priority for Washington, which will strive to establish a stable peace.

"The conflict must end, and it is the policy of the United States to see it end. We want to do everything we can to help it end. We're going to make an effort to make sure that this conflict ends in a stable way, meaning we don't just want the conflict to end and then resume in two, three or four years. We want to ensure stability," the US Secretary of State emphasized.

Rubio is convinced that the Russian-Ukrainian war is "a deadlock, a protracted and bloody conflict" that is destructive for both Russia and Ukraine.

He emphasized that the Russian aggression is particularly costly for Ukraine, as our country is suffering from the destruction of its energy infrastructure and has already lost "people and lives, millions of Ukrainians who were forced to leave their country and are living abroad."

That is why, Rubio is convinced, "everyone should be very happy" that Donald Trump was elected president of the United States, because he wants to "promote peace in the world and put an end to these conflicts."

"Russia is the aggressor in this conflict, but this war needs to end. And, in the end, this is the complexity of foreign policy," Rubio said during a meeting with the media after his nomination for Secretary of State was approved by the US Senate.

Earlier, Rubio said that in the end, each of the warring parties would be forced to make concessions. He argued that neither Russia nor Ukraine can achieve maximalist goals in this conflict. Finding a solution to end the war will not be easy, but it "has to happen."
