In Bucharest, Petro Poroshenko met with the Executive Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis in the framework of the EPP Congress. Poroshenko called on the European Commission to decide on a negotiation framework as early as March in order to quickly start negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union.

This was reported by the press service of the European Solidarity party.

"I informed him about the military needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in air and electronic warfare, shells, aircraft, and drones. I thanked the European Commission for presenting a new strategy for the development of the European defense industry, which will stimulate the growth of production and supply of military products to Ukraine," the fifth president said.

"We discussed ways to implement a 50 billion euro support mechanism for Ukraine based on a program of political and economic reforms, as well as the possibility of using frozen Russian assets for the needs of the Ukrainian army and the reconstruction of our country," Poroshenko said.

He also emphasized the importance of the European Union extending the regime of trade preferences for Ukraine in times of war and resolving the issue of unblocking the Polish border for Ukrainian products.

"I called on the European Commission to finalize the report on Ukraine's fulfillment of the conditions and the draft negotiation framework in March to ensure the earliest possible start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU," Poroshenko said.
