Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó arrives in Uzhhorod on a visit: details have emerged
Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó and his team visited Ukraine on January 29. In Uzhhorod, he met with the head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, and Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
The start of the talks was announced at about 11:50 a.m. on Monday by the press service of the Presidential Office of Ukraine. "A frank and constructive dialogue is expected to establish relations between the two countries," the agency's Telegram channel said.
At about 10:30 a.m., Szijjarto posted a photo of his trip to Ukraine on his Facebook account. He wrote that "the day will be long".
The minister said the purpose of the visit was to fight for the rights of Hungarians."Everything must be done to ensure that the Hungarian community in Zakarpattia regains its former rights," the foreign minister said.
The delegation was joined at the border by the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, Viktor Mykyta. Szijjarto said that this was good, as it was necessary to "improve cooperation between Ukraine and Hungary."
According to the foreign minister, Mykyta "brought a completely new perspective to Transcarpathia: he represents a culture of reconciliation so that Ukrainians and Hungarians can live side by side in peace."
On his Telegram channel, Yermak noted that the visit of the Hungarian representative was very important. "We are working to establish relations, and we need a frank and constructive dialog. We are ready," the head of the Presidential Office said.
