"We understand each other": in the U.S. State Department told about the U.S. response to Zelensky's criticism of NATO
The US State Department told about the reaction to the criticism of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky regarding NATO. There responded that Ukraine and the United States continue to maintain friendly relations, and ties between the two countries remain as strong as ever.
This was stated by the official representative of the US Department of State, Andrea Kalan, on the air of Radio Liberty. She gave this answer when asked about Washington's reaction to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's recent statement about NATO's indecisiveness.
At the same time, The Washington Post wrote earlier that this tweet by Zelensky may have caused irritation among members of the US delegation.
"We all understand that Zelensky is doing his best to defend his country and to ensure that Ukraine has weapons and assistance. There was an opportunity during the meeting between Zelensky and Biden behind closed doors to discuss the real situation. I can say that we are very good friends and understand each other," Andrea Kalan said.
We would like to point out that on the first day of the NATO summit, the Ukrainian president called it "unprecedented and absurd" that there was no timeframe for inviting Ukraine to NATO, although he later softened his rhetoric.
We shall remind you that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that following the NATO summit in Vilnius, our country's path to NATO membership became shorter, but not faster. In order to speed up the process of joining NATO, Ukraine must fulfill certain tasks.
Earlier it was reported that Dmytro Kuleba said that no security guarantees would replace NATO membership for Ukraine. Our country's accession to the North Atlantic Alliance is the most powerful guarantee that there will be no more war in Europe.
