Cyberattacks, as a relatively new type of confrontation, are not lost on filmmakers. A new mini-series from Netflix, "Zero Day," starring Robert De Niro, will be dedicated to this topic.

The project will tell about the work of a special commission investigating a large-scale cyberattack. According to the plot, the commission is headed by former US President George Mullen, who will be played by De Niro. The series teaser was released on Netflix social platforms.

The title of the series refers to the term "zero-day vulnerability." This term describes a software vulnerability that is not yet known to users or developers of the software and against which no defense mechanisms have been developed. This is the problem the characters of the series face.

A large-scale crime committed on the basis of such a vulnerability has resulted in numerous casualties and chaos in America. A former president sets out to make sense of the intricacies of tech corporations, Wall Street, government agendas, and disinformation leaks. However, the investigation will bring him face to face with his own dark secrets and jeopardize everything Mullen values in life.

The show was directed by Lesli Linka Glatter (Love and Death, Homeland). The script for Zero Day was written by Eric Newman (Griselda, Narcos), Noah Oppenheim (Jackie), and Michael Schmidt.

In addition to De Niro, the show's cast includes Angela Bassett (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), Lizzy Caplan (Survival School, Monster), Jesse Plemons (Bridge of Spies, Full Moon Killers), and others. The mini-series will include six episodes and will be released on Netflix on February 20.
