Winter vacation in Yaremche: what the resort has to offer
The best thing you can do in winter is to go to the atmospheric Carpathian region. And no matter what anyone says, it's definitely worth every tourist's attention. The snow-covered fir trees and mountain peaks are breathtaking. Moreover, children say with confidence that here "a fairy tale comes to life." So, to know how to ensure an interesting and fun pastime, read below.
Hutsul Souvenir Market
Located in front of the railway bridge close to the center. Among the variety of products made of wood, clay, leather and wool, every traveler will find something for themselves.
You can buy warm socks and a woolen vest. You can also buy a blanket, embroidered shirt, woven carpets, beaded jewelry, plates, traditional mead, cheese, tea, dried mushrooms and honey.
By the way, we advise you to come here early in the morning. There are fewer people at the market at this time. Also, prices here are usually overstated, so don't hesitate to bargain.
Be sure to go to the Probiy Waterfall. A 20-meter bridge was built here, which, by the way, connects the two parts of the fair. You can go down closer to the water and have a photo shoot. However, be careful as the stones are quite slippery.
Park-Museum "Carpathians in Miniature"
The name speaks for itself. The attraction was created in 2015 as a platform for non-standard study of the geography and history of the Carpathians.
Tourists can see accurately recreated models of churches and monasteries, copies of famous wooden structures, waterfalls, and a mini-railroad with stone bridges.
Mini-Zoo (aviary farm of Carpathian NPP)
It is located on the territory of the Carpathian National Nature Park. Its area reaches more than 5.3 hectares.
The park is home to a variety of animals and birds, including deer, roe deer, peacocks, foxes, white swans, pheasants, eagles, and rabbits. Tourists can buy food and feed the animals or bring their own food with them like apples, cabbage, or carrots.
The park has a large pond with carved figures.
Dovbush Trail
Located within the Carpathian NPP too, at an altitude of 570 to 800 meters above sea level. The path stretches for more than 4 kilometers. To overcome it, you will spend 4 hours.
The artistic and memorial complex consists of historical sites shrouded in legends about the glorious opryshok Oleksa.
The route starts from the Drybka tract and leads to the Zarutsky Gorgany ridge. Along the way, travelers will see the sculptures of the master Dariy Hrabar.
In the middle of the eighteenth century, during the turbulent years of the struggle for freedom, the legendary leader's associates were active in these places. The opryshky (rebel) movement, a vivid manifestation of which was Dovbush's uprising, has forever gone down in Ukrainian history as a symbol of indomitable spirit and the desire for freedom.
Polonyna Makovytsia
It is located at an altitude of 984 meters above sea level, and is considered one of the highest points in Yaremche.
The route to the meadow runs through dense spruce forests along rocky paths. The duration of the ascent depends on the physical fitness of the tourist and can take from 2 to 3 hours. There are several places to rest where you can catch your breath and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding nature.
By the way, there is a small sheep farm on the mountain where travelers can taste fresh sheep cheese made according to traditional Hutsul recipes. They can also buy a variety of souvenirs and handicrafts.
Mykulychyn
The village is located 10 kilometers from the Yaremche train station.
Be sure to visit the local brewery. It was built in 2002, producing beer from raw materials of exclusively natural origin.
Tourists can buy different varieties of hops: light, dark, honey, berry, and non-alcoholic. There is also rye kvass.
Visit the Museum of Traditional Symbols of the Hutsul Region. The exhibits are kept in the rooms of Hutsul grazhda (traditional wooden house). You can see clothes, embroideries, collections of authentic plates, furniture, work tools, and musical instruments, as well as take part in a cheese-making workshop.
