Discovering winter Ivano-Frankivsk

Are you wondering where to go for the next weekend? What about the capital of Prykarpattia? Cozy corners hidden from the eyes of tourists, local legends, and delicious cuisine - today we tell you where to go, what to see, and how to spend an unforgettable time.

City Hall (Ratusha)

Located in the central part of the city. The first building was constructed of wood in 1666.

The local council and court meetings were held here. People also observed the movement of Turkish and Tatar troops during the war between the Ottoman Empire and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth from here.

Later, in 1695, a new stone building was commissioned by Józef Potocki and built on this site. After that, it was rebuilt twice - in 1870 and 1935, the last time in the style of constructivism. Its height reaches more than 50 meters.

We advise you to go up to the observation deck where you can admire Ivano-Frankivsk from above.

Taras Shevchenko Park of Culture and Recreation

It is located between Hetman Mazepa and Chornovil streets.

Once upon a time, there was a dense oak forest on the site of the modern natural center. It was here that the local nobility used to organize hunting. Later, the trees were cut down and a park was created, which eventually became a favorite location for the townspeople.

Today, this is the site of the main Christmas tree.

Regional Art Museum

It is located in the premises of the former Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the seventeenth century. It is considered a historical and architectural monument of national importance.

The attraction was opened in 1980. The building served as the tomb of the Potocki family.

It houses one of the best collections of Galician sacred art, including works by sculptor Johann Georg Pinsel.

Travelers can see a collection of iconography, baroque sculptures, old church books, works by classics of Western Ukrainian painting, and more.

Yaremche

It is located in 1 hour drive from the city in Nadvirna district. A perfect place for those looking for snowy landscapes.

We recommend visiting the souvenir market. You can buy a wide variety of goods: tea, natural soap, dried mushrooms, souvenirs, cheese, meat, woolen products, traditional woven carpets and ceramics.

Also, go to the Probiy waterfall, one of the most powerful in the Carpathians. You can see the natural attraction from a high bridge.

We recommend visiting the aviary. The menagerie was created in 1992 to preserve and breed wild animals. The inhabitants are deer, raccoons, peacocks, foxes, roe deer, etc.

There is a ski resort with 2 slopes nearby. They stretch for more than 300 meters. Most often, those who are just learning to master winter sports come here.
