A new trend among European tourists to visit small but picturesque towns and villages in the resort regions of Europe is growing. And recently, one such village in Spain saw itself in the spotlight.

According to the Express, the village of Casares was named the most beautiful in Andalusia, according to a survey by the Noradoa travel portal. About 8,000 people live here, and this incredible place is located on the border with the province of Cadiz, about 40 minutes from Marbella.

Often referred to as the cradle of Andalusia, Casares is located on a hillside with narrow, winding streets that run between its whitewashed buildings. It is the leader of the survey featuring 99 villages. National Geographic also included it in the list of the 100 most beautiful towns in Spain, praising the charm of its "narrow and winding century-old slopes."

The village's centerpiece is the Casares Castle, a Moorish fortress built in the 1200s. Back then, it was used to protect the Nasrid kingdom that stood on these lands.

Throughout the village, you can find observation decks that offer stunning views of the snow-white houses. And Casares itself seems like a box of sugar cubes because of these houses.

The church called Iglesia de la Encarnación is also of historical significance, dating back to the 17th century and featuring a magnificent Mudejar bell tower. For those looking for relaxation, you can visit the Baños de la Hedionda spa resort in Casares, known for its sulfurous waters since ancient times. They are believed to have healing properties. At the very least, you can relax here.

The high season here lasts from June to September. Visiting the village of Casares is free, but during these months, a reservation is required.
