Experts believe that it was only a matter of time before the two most popular aesthetics merged into one. Thus, a new trendy hairstyle called the "mob bob" flooded the web.

Just as the "old money" style reigned supreme in 2023, the "gangster's wife" trend on TikTok is a hit in 2024. The haircut has the same glamor, but adds sass, Glamour writes. Along with animal print and designer accessories, one of the main features of the "mafia wife" aesthetic is voluminous hair that adds sexuality.

What is a mob bob?

The mob bob gives luxury and volume to the hair but is a short length. Posting the trend on TikTok, hairdresser Faye Redfern explained: "The mafia wife haircut is an interpretation of the massive 90s bob. [It has] a lot of fullness at the ends [...] a lot of movement when you blow dry it, so it looks really fun."

Influencer Nadia Khaled showed the process of creating her mob bob after visiting a hairdresser who understood the task 100%. "This is literally the definition of a mafia wife. The fluidity. Volume," she said.

How to style a mob bob

A great solution is a side parting when blow-drying. "It's going to have a really dramatic Hollywood vibe," said Faye. "The side parting has a modern look.

When it comes to styling, your blow dryer and round brush should do the heavy lifting, but you can enhance the result with a curling iron. "I would take a wide nozzle and curl the ends back to get volume," she advises.
