The Republic of South Africa is a country of contrasts and magnificent landscapes that attract tourists from all over the world. From safaris in national parks where you can see lions, elephants, and other wild animals to picturesque beaches and mountain peaks, the nature of South Africa is striking in its diversity.

According to Will Sarson, a travel expert at Riviera Travel, Johannesburg is a promising destination for those who want to discover the special history of this region. The details were reported by the Express.

Johannesburg is a dynamic city that is the economic and cultural center of South Africa. Here, modernity is harmoniously combined with history, and the diversity of cultures creates a unique atmosphere.

"Johannesburg offers warm weather, rich history, and vibrant culture. The largest city in South Africa will open a unique and meaningful journey," said Sarson.

The Apartheid Museum is a must-see. It is a place where you can delve into the history of racial segregation in South Africa. The expositions tell about the struggle for freedom and human rights. A powerful exhibition describes the nation's journey from segregation to democracy, including the historic release of Nelson Mandela.

Sarson advises tourists to just go for a walk around the city.

"Explore the Maboneng district with its street art and trendy cafes, or visit the Cradle of Humankind, a UNESCO World Heritage Site," the expert suggests.

Maboneng is an art district with galleries, studios, cafes, and restaurants. Here you can get acquainted with contemporary art and feel the creative atmosphere of the city.

"The Cradle of Humankind is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located about 50 km northwest of Johannesburg. This region is famous for its limestone caves, where for decades paleontologists have been finding numerous fossils of our distant ancestors. The oldest finds in the Cradle of Humankind date back 3.5 million years.

You can get to the Cradle of Humankind from Johannesburg by rented car or as part of an organized tour transfer. Many tour operators offer day trips that include visits to several caves and museums.

As a truly cosmopolitan city, Johannesburg offers an extremely diverse culinary scene. Here you can try dishes from different parts of the world, as well as unique local specialties. South African dishes often include meat as the main ingredient and one of the most famous dishes is biltong, a dried meat that is considered the national snack of South Africa. It is often compared to bacon, but its flavor is more intense and spicy.

Bobotie is a South African national dish that resembles meat pudding. It is made from lamb or beef baked with turmeric, curry, and raisins. It is served with yellow rice. Pap is a thick porridge made from cornmeal, which is a staple dish in many African countries and is usually served with various sauces and meat.

Many restaurants in Johannesburg offer both traditional African dishes and international cuisine.

From Johannesburg, it is convenient to get to other interesting places in South Africa, such as Cape Town, Kruger National Park, and Swaziland.
