Lavender is an incredibly popular plant among gardeners because of its wonderful fragrant flowers. And you can help it bloom even more lushly with three simple products.

Homemade natural fertilizers will help add more nutrients to the soil without spending a lot of money or using aggressive chemicals, OBOZ.UA writes.

This simple organic fertilizer that can be used to feed lavender consists of three natural ingredients that help regulate the pH of the soil so that the plant blooms faster.

How to prepare natural lavender fertilizer

You will need:

  • one gallon (about 4.5 liters) of water
  • one tablespoon of baking soda
  • one tablespoon of Epsom salt (epsomite)
  • one tablespoon of fish emulsion

Epsom salt is one of the best ingredients if you want to promote flowering. It contains magnesium that helps plants produce energy, which can lead to more vigorous growth.

Baking soda has a mild alkaline effect, so it lowers the acidity of the soil for lavender. This will reduce the likelihood of stress for the plant, which will promote flower development.

You can buy fish emulsion as a liquid plant fertilizer or use any leftover fish you were planning to throw away.

It contains phosphorus, the main nutrient needed for flower growth, as well as other important ones such as potassium.

How to fertilize the plant

All you have to do is add the ingredients to a large bucket or watering can.

Mix everything until it is completely dissolved.

Water the lavender around the base of the soil and make sure that no water gets on the leaves or flowers.
