"What is this?": Ovechkin humiliated Russian Z-patriots with his act in the US. Video
Russian hockey player Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals took part in a ceremony dedicated to the US Veterans Day. The founder of the Putin Team, a movement in support of Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin, shook hands with the American military before the National Hockey League game against the Islanders.
Paratroopers from the 103rd Rescue Squadron of the 106th Rescue Wing, stationed in Westhampton Beach, appeared on ice. One of them made a symbolic throw-in. Ovechkin also took part in it.
This behavior of the famous athlete caused violent emotions among his countrymen.
"Did he just shake hands with the enemies from NATO? I thought we were at war with them", "Putin's fan shook hands with NATO troops? What is it?", "He will be named foreign agent in no time", "Sasha is the disappointment of the year, this man has no principles...", and "How can someone explain this to me?" the humiliated patriots say.
Many Russian fans were outraged by Ovechkin's act.
"I don't like him for this ambiguity. He's a pure double-dealer, a werewolf. Both yours and ours. It's hard to even attribute this to the stereotypical stupidity of athletes," the comments read.
The game ended in a 4-1 victory for Washington. Ovechkin scored a double, one of them into an empty net.
The Capitals are 7th in the Eastern Conference with 16 points, while the Islanders are 13th with 13 points.
