What holiday is celebrated on March 4: everything about this day
Tuesday, March 4, marks World Obesity Day, which has been celebrated since 2020. This day, organized by the World Obesity Federation, aims to draw attention to the global problem of obesity and promote the prevention and treatment of this serious disease.
On March 4, the faithful honor the memory of St. Gerasimus at the Jordan, the martyrs Paul and Julian, and St. Gerasimus, the hegumen of Vologda.
St. Gerasimus of Jordan, a great ascetic and founder of a monastery near the Jordan River, was born in Lycia and devoted his life to prayer and repentance. He traveled to Egypt, where he underwent spiritual refinement, and later founded a monastery in Palestine, establishing strict rules for monasticism. St. Gerasimos steadfastly resisted heretical temptations and maintained the purity of faith, becoming an example for his followers. His earthly life ended peacefully, and his exploits and spiritual legacy inspire Christians around the world, especially in times of trial.
