According to the new calendar, on February 17, Orthodox believers honor the memory of the Great Martyr Fedor Tyrone and St. Fedor, the Silent One of Kyiv-Pechersk, in the Far Caves. Theodore Tyrone was a soldier in the time of Emperor Maximian. He suffered for his faith in Christ, refusing to sacrifice to pagan gods. His name is associated with numerous healings and miracles. Fedor Tiron is revered as a defender of Christians.

Believers also remember St. Fedor the Silent, who rests in the Far Caves of the Kyiv Cave Monastery. St. Fedor was one of the many ascetics of the monastery. He voluntarily took the vow of silence for the sake of spiritual growth. In Christianity, St. Fedor is an example of humility, repentance, and devotion to God.

Global Tourism Resilience Day is celebrated annually on February 17. This day was established by the UN General Assembly in 2023 to raise awareness of the importance of sustainable and resilient tourism development, especially in the face of global challenges and crises.

The World Human Spirit Day is a call for unity, support and inspiration, emphasizing the importance of the human spirit, its strength and ability to overcome difficulties. The holiday was founded in 2003 by Michael Levy, a philosopher, writer and spiritual leader. He sought to create a day when people could focus on the positive aspects of life, the power of their inner self, and the importance of spiritual development.
