What holidays are celebrated on November 12

November 12, according to the New Julian calendar, is the day of remembrance of the holy martyr Josaphat, a Ukrainian saint whose real name was Ivan Kuntsevich. He was born in 1580 in Volodymyr-Volynskyi and showed piety from an early age. Seeing this extraordinary zeal in the service of God, many people converted to Christianity. In 1604, he took the monastic state, entering the Holy Trinity Monastery, and took the name Josaphat. The saint was martyred for the unity of all Christians.

November 12 is World Pneumonia Day. The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the World Health Organization announced November 12, 2009, as the day of the beginning of a large-scale campaign to fight childhood pneumonia. The WHO and UNICEF have launched a campaign to raise funds to treat children in dozens of developing countries, mainly in Asia and Africa, from this disease.
