Varenukha is an old alcoholic beverage consumed by hetmans, centurions, Cossacks, and the gentry. It is made from dried fruits, spices, and, of course, moonshine.
Journalist Kostiantyn Hrubych knows exactly how to make varenukha according to an authentic recipe. On his Facebook page, he described all the intricacies of the ancient technology in detail.
Ingredients
- vodka or moonshine - 1 liter
- dried fruits - 200 g
- honey - 2 tbsp
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- dried mint - 1 tbsp
Method of preparation
1. Pour the vodka into a saucepan.
2. Add honey and stir.
3. Add dried fruit and cinnamon. Stir to combine.
4. Add dried mint and turn on the heat.
5. Cover and wait until it boils.
6. Turn off the heat and leave to cool.
7. Strain the drink and pour into bottles.
