The recent unveiling of the iPhone 16 made a big impression on both users and experts. Larger displays, artificial intelligence, new button, etc. make this device the most innovative on the market.

However, everything is not as good as we would like, because owners of the brand new iPhone 16 Pro have begun to report a big problem with the touchscreen. The ITC has described this in more detail.

What exactly is wrong?

The touchscreen problem is observed in iPhone 16 Pro models running on iOS 18 and iOS 18.1. Most users notice that the area of the screen near the edge, especially next to the new camera button, is not working properly.

This is how some users describe it, "If your palm accidentally touches the area near the new camera control button, the entire screen stops responding to gestures and presses, except for the main panel. In the system settings, it is almost impossible to touch or swipe. On the home page, you can click on some apps, but you can't scroll through them."

This problem has caused considerable concern among users, as it appears on the most advanced hardware and software from Apple.

Causes

The algorithm responsible for rejecting accidental palm touches turned out to be aggressive, blocking part of the screen for interaction. Users assume that this is due to the thinner bezels of the smartphone. Proof of this is that when using the case, the number of bugs decreases.

It is also interesting that everything works correctly when the phone screen is locked. This indicates that the problem is in the software and gives hope that Apple will soon release a corresponding update to fix the situation.
