Unbelievable drama: Biathlon World Cup race ended with a fantastic denouement. Video

The start of the second stage of the Biathlon World Cup, which began on December 8 in Hochfilzen, Austria, was marked by a dramatic denouement. The competition opened with the men's sprint race, which was won by Norwegian Tarjei Bø, who was only five seconds ahead of his rivals.

The battle for awards was between Norwegian and Swedish biathletes. Johannes Bøgh, the winner of the Big Crystal Globe, was clearly in the running for the first victory of the season. It seemed that he would easily close the race, but he made three misses at once at the second firing line, which dropped him to 11th place in the final report.

Then Sebastian Samuelsson, Martin Ponsiluoma, Tarjei Bø and Sturla Holm Lægreid started to fight each other. After the standing shooting, they took turns overtaking each other, with only 0.1 seconds separating the Swedes.

At the finish line, Bø and Lægreid won the gold medal. Sturla almost made up for the 15-second gap but was still content with silver. Samuelsson took third place.

It is worth noting that for the first time this season, captain Dmytro Pidruchnyi will start as part of the Ukrainian national team. For him, this race was a tie for 52nd place. Anton Dudchenko was the best of our team, finishing 47th.
