The fight ended in the 9th round
WBC light heavyweight champion Khalil Koe (9-1-1, 7 KOs) suffered his first career defeat. At the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia (USA), the 28-year-old New Jersey native lost early to Mexican Manuel Gallegos (21-2-1, 18 KOs).
From the first seconds of the fight, the challenger tried to impose exchanges with punches. Koe was counting on his technical superiority to win an easy victory, but the reality turned out to be quite different.
Gallegos missed a lot of heavy and accurate punches. However, his endurance allowed him to cope with Koe's attacks and turn the tide of the fight.
After the equator, the initiative gradually passed to the Mexican, who knocked down the champion round after round.
The American fighter could not keep up the pace, so the referee stopped the fight in the 9th round after four falls.
