Ukraine's women's national basketball team lost in the 4th round of the qualifying tournament for the 2025 European Championships, which will be held in the Czech Republic, Germany, Greece and Italy from June 19 to 29, 2025. Yevhen Murzin's team lost to Serbia 53-79 in a nominally home match in Riga.

The game started at a slow pace. Both teams paid more attention to defense and positional offense. Ukraine could not establish a combinatorial game, while the Serbians scored points both under the rim and from the perimeter. Only by the middle of the half, our basketball players picked up the pace and began to succeed in the offense.

With 5 minutes left in the quarter, Ukraine tied the score for the first time, but failed to take the lead. The end of the opening 10 minutes was a real benefit for Nevena Rosic, who scored 7 points in a row, forcing Yevhen Murzin to call a timeout.

The Yellow and Blues started the second quarter losing 18:27. The tight defense of the opponents did not allow us to equalize the situation. At the same time, Yvonne Andersen and Jovana Nozic were bombing the Ukrainian basket with threes, increasing the advantage. Rosic also continued to perform. Before the big break, the scoreboard showed 32:50 not in our favor.

The second half began with attacks from Ukraine. The Serbians slowed down, which immediately allowed the Ukrainians to improve their accuracy. Miriam Uro-Nili dominated the three-second zone, and Yagupova worked hard on interceptions. Alina reduced the deficit to 10 points (51:61) with her last attack.

Unfortunately, the Ukrainian team could not do more. Serbia's surge, when it scored 14 unanswered points in five minutes, left no chance for a comeback. The quarter ended with a terrible 2:18 left.
