Driving under the influence of alcohol is punishable only by administrative liability, but the amount of the fine is significant. According to the law, the fine can range from UAH 17 to 51 thousand, depending on the severity of the violation.

According to the Code of Administrative Offenses (CAO), a driver faces a fine of UAH 17 thousand for the first such violation. This includes deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of 1 year.

For a second offense within a year, the fine will increase to UAH 34,000. And driving will be banned for 3 years. In addition, the driver's vehicle may be seized.

For the third violation within a year, the fine will be UAH 51,000. It also provides for

  • a 10-year ban on driving vehicles;
  • confiscation of privately owned vehicles.

An alternative penalty is administrative arrest for 15 days with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for 10 years. It also includes confiscation of the vehicle privately owned by the offender.

New fines are being prepared for Ukrainian drivers

At the same time, a new fine may be introduced for Ukrainian drivers for exceeding the permissible noise level. The penalty is expected to be set at UAH 17,000. For a repeated violation, they will have to pay UAH 34,000.

The corresponding draft law No. 9564 has been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada. The document was included in the parliament's agenda in early February. Accordingly, MPs can consider it at any time.

According to the draft law, violations of noise regulations will be subject to fines and deprivation of the right to drive a vehicle. In particular:

  • for the first violation, a fine of UAH 17,000 is envisaged;
  • a fine of UAH 34,000 and deprivation of the right to drive a vehicle for a period of 3 to 6 months for the second offense.

However, the right to drive may not be taken away. In particular, the draft law stipulates that the repeated violation will only be punishable by a fine.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, upon reaching the age of 14, every Ukrainian is obliged to obtain a passport of a citizen of Ukraine, which is the main document confirming a person's identity. It can be of the old (booklet) or new (ID-card) type. If it is not updated or replaced in time, you will face a fine.
