Ukraine has been stirred by the trend of buying monkeys: how much does an exotic pet from the tropics cost

Recently, Ukrainian TikTok has been flooded with a trend for pet monkeys, which have become a real sensation among users. You can find an exotic pet in specialized pet stores or from private breeders, where prices can range from 500 (UAH 19,793) to 2000 (UAH 79,174) euros, depending on the breed and age of the animal.

According to zoo experts, a monkey pet is really a pet for those who are ready to devote a lot of time to communication and training of their pet. There are different breeds of monkeys for home keeping.

Preference should be given to those that do not grow more than 1 meter and weigh up to 3-4 kg. Monkeys have sharp teeth, clingy feet, and are quite strong, so if large individuals show aggression, serious injuries are possible. The most popular types of monkeys for the home:

• toy monkeys
• capuchins
• macaques
• saimyros.

Only experienced breeders who know how to properly train and care for primates can afford these types of pets. These breeds are more intelligent and easy to train.

• what kind of food is needed;
• whether there is a predisposition to certain diseases;
• what preventive procedures and vaccinations are needed.

The average cost of such a dog in Ukraine currently ranges from 700 (UAH 29,700) to 1000 euros (UAH 42,400), but for specimens with an excellent pedigree, you can expect to spend about 1500 euros (UAH 63,500).
