The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) has approved the imposition of a sanction in the form of asset confiscation on former "Motor Sich" head Viacheslav Bohuslaiev. A similar ruling was made against Petro Kononenko, a former company's top manager. In total, almost one billion hryvnias of assets were recovered for the benefit of the state of Ukraine, including the rights of "The Motor Bank", "Motor Garant", and Vinnytsia Aviation Plant.

Thus, the HACC upheld the claim of the Ministry of Justice, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine reported. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the following assets were confiscated:

  • UAH 600 million;
  • 11 real estate objects, 5 of which are land plots;
  • shares in the authorized capital of 11 companies with a capital of UAH 367.3 million and other assets.

The confiscation permit, in particular, applies to the corporate rights of "Motor Bank", "Motor Garant" Insurance Company, and Vinnytsia Aviation Plant, Inna Bahatykh, Director of the Sanctions Policy Department of the Ministry of Justice, also posted on Facebook. "The High Anti-Corruption Court has just satisfied the claim of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine to impose a sanction in the form of asset forfeiture on Bohuslaiev and Kononenko," said Bahatykh. According to the representative of the Ministry of Justice, the HACC refused to confiscate "certain assets of third parties". The Ministry of Justice will appeal this decision.

Earlier, the court extended the arrest of Bohuslaev and his accomplice. They will be held without bail until June 10, 2024.

Bohuslaiev was detained in October 2022 together with the head of the company's foreign economic activity department. The Security Service of Ukraine reported that after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, the former head of "Motor Sich" financed the so-called DNR by paying taxes and fees to the budget of the self-proclaimed republic.

According to the agency, Bohuslaiev cooperated with a Ukrainian company that had been under the control of the DNR since 2014 and was working on the supply of aircraft components to the enterprises of the Russian military-industrial complex. During the searches, law enforcement officers found more than two dozen medals, certificates, and honorary awards presented to the ex-president of "Motor Sich" by Russian military and political leadership representatives.

Bohuslaiev and his accomplice are accused of collaboration, assistance to the aggressor state, and assistance to a terrorist organization – Part 4 of Art. 111-1, Art. 111-2, Part 1 of Art. 258-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The former president of Motor Sich JSC is also charged with obstructing the activities of military formations during a special period – Part 1 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
